Title: MediaTek MT7902 Wi-Fi unavailable on Linux Mint 22.3 (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB Tethering Issues)
Hello
I need help with my MediaTek MT7902 wireless adapter on Linux Mint 22.3.
Laptop: Acer One 14 Z2-493
Processor: AMD Ryzen 3 3250U (2.60 GHz)
Graphics: AMD Radeon Graphics (Integrated)
RAM: 8 GB
Operating System: Linux Mint 22.3
Kernel: 6.17
Problem
After installing Linux Mint 22.3, I am facing multiple networking issues:
- Initially, there was no Wi-Fi icon.
- After installing the MT7902 firmware/driver, the Wi-Fi icon appeared.
- However, it always shows “Wi-Fi unavailable”.
- No Wi-Fi networks are detected.
- The wireless interface (
wlp2s0) is present, and themt7902edriver appears to load, but Wi-Fi still does not work. - Bluetooth is also not working properly.
- USB tethering from my Android phone is not detected. When I connect my phone using a USB cable, Linux only shows the phone as a storage device. The USB tethering/network interface does not appear, so I cannot access the internet through my phone.
What I have already tried
- Installed the latest MT7902 firmware.
- Reinstalled the driver.
- Updated the kernel to 6.17.
- Checked
rfkill(not hard blocked). - Followed several Linux guides and YouTube tutorials.
- Restarted the system multiple times.
Unfortunately, none of these steps solved the problem.
Request
Can someone please help me identify the cause or suggest a solution? If this is a driver or kernel compatibility issue with the MediaTek MT7902, please let me know.
If you need additional information such as the output of dmesg, lspci, rfkill, iw dev, lsusb, or any other diagnostic commands, I will be happy to provide it.
Thank you very much for your time and support. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
