Talk Title: Building Tamil LLM/SLM the right way with right dataset
Short Description of the Talk (2–4 lines): Building an LLM for Tamil with the tools and methods invented for Western languages are not optimal. The basic building blocks for LLM/SLM training are the datasets and the tokenization. The Quality of these two determine the quality of ML training. In this session we discuss about the challenges in open Tamil dataset curation and tokenization. How to get to a state where the building blocks are driven by the fundamental grammatical constructs of Tamil language.

Talk Title: “Get Parallel’ized, Not Paralyzed: A High-Speed Intro to HPC”

* High-Performance Computing (HPC) speeds up tasks using parallel programming, where many cores or machines work together.
* OpenMP is used for shared-memory systems, and MPI connects multiple machines for distributed computing.
* PyOMP brings parallel computing to Python, combining speed with simplicity.
Short Description of the Talk (2–4 lines): This talk is about my search for finding a fuzzy search JS library to implement drop-down in an open source project. This ended up with me checking a dictionary-building app “dictpress” and exploring it to see how fuzzy search works there and found out phonetic search algorithm supported in indic languages like Kannada and Malayalam. That led me to try adding support for phonetic search algorithm for Tamil language.
